Parking was an absolute night-mare, mostly double parking and being blocked in, so you have to leave your keys with reception so they can move it. If disabled don't request rooms in the Court Yard, this is located across a main road from the Hotel. Court yard rooms; don't stay in room 24 the window opens right onto the main road it's extremely noisy.
Poor service on arrival and at breakfast
Great Location, friendly staff and great breakfast.
some of the rooms are fantastic and some need updating.
Central and clean with parking facilities
Restaurant and bar need an update. Bar needs some art/pictures on the walls as very bland and unwelcoming t spoons/stirers needed in the room Some of waiting staff need to make more eye contact as Yes! We might want something- as we pay their wages this is to be expected. Gentleman behind the bar and in s=dining room very helpful and kind.
Food good, staff helpful, parking adequate, nice location in town centre
Seemed to lack management or organisation especially in dining room at busy times (worked much better when only one member of staff on duty) Did not like having to cross road for breakfast. Room very basic but at least it did have hot water which is more than main hotel did.
Attention to detail, and helpfulness of staff. Its location in the centre of Bakewell. Free wifi, although only in main hotel (not courtyard).
Location. Plenty of lovely walks from the door. Food was very good. Breakfast was excellent.Staff were very pleasent and friendly.
Rooms were scruffy and not that clean. Had to ask to move rooms because bathroom smelt
Excellent location and local real ale served in the bar.
The plumbing is very poor and general housekeeping in the public areas was an issue.
The location for exploring Bakewell was excellent and with easy access to the Peak District also.
For the price (£116) one of the two rooms we had (#5) was very basic and not luxurious in any way. The bed was very hard. All in all it is difficult to see how the room could be considered a superior double.
The quirkiness of the hotel.[clocks everywhere]. Its close proximity to the bakewell showground and the main street.
The service in the dining room was slow and the tables were not cleared at breakfast.
It was in a convenient location for the purpose of our visit. The Breakfast was excellent. The worst thing was that there was no heat in the room and no hot water available for baths etc. (We did advise reception staff of these problems)
Friendly staff, clean rooms, open fire in lounge, good food, location perfect for shops and best countryside in UK.
The rooms were nicely fitted and the staff very friendly.
Compared to national chains it was overpriced for what it was, the room was small, the pillows very uncomfortable and as it was warm and the windows were open it was quite noisy with traffic early in the morning.
We chose to stay there as we had spent the first week of our honeymoon there 50 years ago. It was a case of going down memory lane.
No Lift. The attitude of the receptionist when we arrived. Rather cold and apparently money orientated. We had stayed in a room with a 4 Poster Bed on our wedding night in 1962. I had specifically asked in a previous email on this occasion if we could have that room. There was no response to that request before we arrived. On asking about whether it would be possible to stay in the same room, we were told by the receptionist that we could upgrade. I did not feel exactly welcome. I have not ticked the next question as whether you stay there depends on your individual needs. I might stay there for our diamond wedding, but the lack of a lift would probably preclude that.
Excellent location and cosy log fires. Comfy bed!
Decor was alittle dated
